BOTOX AGAINST HEAVY SWEATING

Summer is coming, and the sun’s heat with it. For most of us, hot season means open shoes and light dresses, but those who suffer from heavy sweating (hyperhidrosis) fear this the most.

There is a solution to reduce unpleasant sweating: Botox injections.

Heavy sweating is a social discomfort for those who suffer from it. At the end of their workday, they usually find sweat stains under their armpits, have wet hands or smelly feet.

Botox injections are very effective against sweating. They can be made on a regular basis, as this is a non-invasive procedure.

Different types of hyperhidrosis

Nowadays, sweating is usually associated with stress and lack of self-hygiene. Those suffering from hyperhidrosis, a disorder in the sweat glands that has no proven cause, live a real-life nightmare. There are different types of hyperhidrosis, depending on the areas where we can find high levels of sweat glands.

Types of hyperhidrosis:

  • Axillary (underarms sweating)
  • Palmar (hand sweating)
  • Plantar ( sweaty soles )
  • Facial ( forehead sweating)

There’s no need to suffer from hyperhidrosis to undergo sweat injections. Most of my patients have completely normal sweating but simply wish to get rid of it, so that they can look great at all times during the day, without being embarrassed by unsightly underarm stains.

Who is embarrassed by their sweating?

Heavy or not, we can all be embarrassed by sweat. Men, women, teens… My patients usually have various profiles.

  • Salespersons and businessmen for whom clothing and looks are critical
  • Professional athletes
  • Nightworkers
  • Artists performing on-stage (actors, musicians, models…)
  • Vacationers who just want to improve their comfort during summer season
  • Nightclubs enthusiasts who want to dance and feel great all night long

Botox injections: an effective solution for heavy sweating

My patients have already tried everything to treat their heavy sweating: long-lasting antiperspirant, alum stone, talc powder, acupuncture, homeopathy…Botox injections are by far the most effective solutions for this.

These painless injections shall be repeated every 6 months. I usually recommend this treatment as soon as the warm weather arrives, mostly for armpits.

The procedure takes between 15 to 30 minutes, directly in the office. Botulinum toxin relaxes the muscle whose contraction causes sweat secretion by the sweat gland.

Contraindications for the treatment of sweating with Botox include pregnant or breastfeeding women, individuals with myasthenia, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or those undergoing aminoglycoside treatment.
