How can fat deposits be corrected to slim down your figure?
Men and women of all ages come to our clinics with fatty deposits that are generally well-localized and resistant to diet and exercise. They can be found on the stomach, hips, thighs, saddlebags, knees, calves and ankles. It can also be seen on the arms, neck and chin. Once installed, this localized fat is difficult to remove. If you lose a lot of weight, it will eventually diminish, but at the cost of a slimmer, more tired-looking face and an empty chest. Liposuction is also used to remove cellulite.
What is the consultation process like before liposuction surgery?

The first consultation is an opportunity to examine the patient, her weight history and her goals. In particular, skin elasticity needs to be carefully assessed: good-quality skin that is not slack and elastic will enable good retraction and prevent the occurrence of any irregularities. Slack skin is sometimes observed in slim people, and will not be corrected by liposuction. If there is a fatty mass, it will be removed, but the patient may not achieve the desired result. This is sometimes difficult to understand. Depending on the clinical examination, we can sometimes suggest surgery with scars(abdominoplasty, for example) to remove excess skin with a much better result. It’s important to understand the patient’s wishes and explain what she can expect from liposuction. If the indication is well defined, the result will be satisfactory.

Double chin liposuction
Double chin liposuction is a procedure that removes fat from under the chin, allowing the skin to tighten against the floor of the mouth and neck muscles. All with natural results. The aim of double chin liposuction is to reduce the volume under the chin by recreating the chin-cervical angle. The aim is to harmonize the volumes of the neck with those of the face. When the patient has a visible excess of fat in this area and good quality skin. For the result to be satisfactory, the skin must be able to tighten satisfactorily over the neck muscles.

How does the operation work?
The duration of a liposuction procedure depends on the amount of fat and the number of areas to be treated. On average, it lasts 1 to 1.5 hours, under epidural or general anesthesia. At the end of the procedure, we apply a compression garment (panty) to limit oedema and ensure proper redistribution of the cutaneous and subcutaneous planes.
What happens after the operation?
The patient comes in at noon on the day of the operation, and usually leaves the next morning when the tummy, thighs, saddlebags and knees, for example, are treated. Pain is generally well controlled by analgesics. The panty should be worn for a month, and compression stockings for 7 to 10 days, with anticoagulant treatment. A 3 to 7-day leave from work is recommended. The result is visible once the swelling has subsided, i.e. after around 6 weeks. Sport should not be resumed for a month.
