Thighs and abdomen liposuction | DLB
Liposuction is not a weight loss treatment.

liposuction

Liposuction is the most effective and efficient treatment that allows for the targeted elimination of stubborn fat resistant to dieting, while preserving a full face and a beautiful chest.

How to remove fat deposits to refine a silhouette?

Patients come for consultation to find a solution to fatty deposits that resist a healthy lifestyle and regular physical activity.

These deposits are commonly located in the abdomen, hips, thighs, knees, calves and ankles. They can also be found on the arms or neck. Once settled, this localized fat is difficult to get rid of. Losing a significant amount of weight may eventually reduce it, but at the expense of a gaunt-looking face and a depleted chest. Liposuction is also used to remove cellulite.

What happens during the appointment before a liposuction procedure?

The initial consultation involves examining the patient, their weight history, and their goals.

It is important to thoroughly evaluate the skin’s elasticity: good quality skin with no sagging will allow for good retraction and prevent any irregularities from occuring.

Sometimes, skinny persons have skin sagging that won’t be corrected through liposuction. If there’s a fat cluster, it can be removed, but the patient may not get the expected result. It can be challenging to fully comprehend this aspect.

Depending on the clinical examination, there may be cases where surgery with incisions (such as abdominoplasty,) is recommended to remove excess skin, giving a much better outcome.

It is essential to fully understand the patients’ desires and to thoroughly explain what they can expect from a liposuction. If the indication is well determined, the result will end up be satisfying.

How does the procedure take place?

The duration of a liposuction depends on the amount of fat and the number of areas to be treated. It lasts 1 to 1.5 hours under epidural or general anesthesia. At the end of the procedure, a modeling compression garment (panty) is worn to reduce swelling and ensure proper redistribution of the skin and subcutaneous layers.

What happens after the procedure?

The patient comes in at noon on the day of the intervention and usually comes out next morning, especially when treating areas such as abdomen, thighs, love handles and knees.

Pain can usually be managed through analgesic drugs. The panty needs to be worn for one month and compression stockings for 7 to 10 days, along with an anticoagulant treatment. We recommend 3 to 7 days off of work. The results become visible after the resolution of swelling, which typically occurs after about 6 weeks. Physical activity should not be resumed before one month.
