A tout âge hommes et femmes se présentent à la consultation pour des amas graisseux, en général bien localisés qui résistent au régime alimentaire ou au sport.
On les retrouve au niveau du ventre, des hanches, des cuisses, de la culotte de cheval, des genoux, des mollets, des chevilles. On peut aussi en voir au niveau de bras, du cou, du menton. Une fois installée, cette graisse localisée part difficilement. En perdant beaucoup de poids, elle finirait par diminuer mais au prix d’un visage amaigri, qui semblerait fatigué, d’une poitrine vidée. La liposuccion est aussi utilisée pour enlever la cellulite.
What is the consultation process like before liposuction surgery?

La première consultation permet d’examiner la patiente, son historique de poids, ses objectifs.
Il faut en particulier évaluer soigneusement l’élasticité cutanée : une peau de bonne qualité sans relâchement et élastique permettra une bonne rétraction et évitera la survenue de toute irrégularité.
On observe parfois chez des personnes minces un relâchement cutané qui ne sera pas corrigé par la lipoaspiration. S’il existe un amas graisseux il partira, mais la patiente risque de ne pas avoir le résultat désiré. C’est parfois difficile de bien le comprendre.
En fonction de l’examen clinique, on peut parfois proposer une chirurgie avec des cicatrices (plastie abdominale par exemple) permettant de retirer la peau excédentaire avec un résultat bien meilleur.
Il faut bien comprendre ce que souhaite la patiente et bien lui expliquer ce qu’elle peut attendre de la lipoaspiration. Si l’indication est bien posée, le résultat sera satisfaisant.
Double chin liposuction
Double chin liposuction is a procedure that removes fat from under the chin, allowing the skin to tighten against the floor of the mouth and neck muscles. All with natural results. The aim of double chin liposuction is to reduce the volume under the chin by recreating the chin-cervical angle. The aim is to harmonize the volumes of the neck with those of the face. When the patient has a visible excess of fat in this area and good quality skin. For the result to be satisfactory, the skin must be able to tighten satisfactorily over the neck muscles.
How does the operation work?
The duration of a liposuction procedure depends on the amount of fat and the number of areas to be treated. On average, it lasts 1 to 1.5 hours, under epidural or general anesthesia. At the end of the procedure, we apply a compression garment (panty) to limit oedema and ensure proper redistribution of the cutaneous and subcutaneous planes.
What happens after the operation?
The patient comes in at noon on the day of the operation, and usually leaves the next morning when the tummy, thighs, saddlebags and knees, for example, are treated. Pain is generally well controlled by analgesics. The panty should be worn for a month, and compression stockings for 7 to 10 days, with anticoagulant treatment. A 3 to 7-day leave from work is recommended. The result is visible once the swelling has subsided, i.e. after around 6 weeks. Sport should not be resumed for a month.
